"Growing Prize Winning Roses in Central Florida, My Secrets for Success" is the topic for the November 12 Gainesville Rose Society meeting.  Jim Small. member of the Central Florida Rose Society, will present the program.  The meeting is at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church, 3411 NW 83rd Street, Gainesville, across from Santa Fe Community College.  The program is free and open to everyone.

Jim Small holds a Ph.D. in the biological sciences and before retirement was professor of biology at Rollins College in Winter Park.  He has grown roses as a hobby for over 30 years.  Currently his garden includes hybrid teas, miniatures, minifloras, shrubs, floribundas and old garden roses.  He is an American Rose Society master rosarian, judge, and avid exhibitor, winning many awards.

The Gainesville Rose Society invites anyone interested in roses at any level of expertise to join our group.  New members receive a trial membership in the American Rose Society and a free rose bush from Rose Petals Nursery.
