President's Message

Did you ever see such perfect decorations for a picnic? Ants and mosquitoes… the red, white and blue? Thank you Ann, Dan and Bob for the great job decorating for us. A fun time was had by all. Those of you who were not able to make it, we missed you. Now that the summer months are here, we all should have a little time to perhaps relax, travel and reflect on the past year and think of new opportunities ahead. Part of the fun of our journey is working and planning and getting new ideas. As you know, programs for our meetings are an important part of our life as a Society. Lee and Ralph will be working together in this area. To start this process, we will have a planning session sometime in the near future. At the June social we would like to get this on the calendar and ask that some of you consider attending and share thoughts, ideas and possibilities.

So please bring your calendar. We can make it a fun time over lunch. Starting in September we will be meeting at the 1st Christian Church located just off 39th Ave on 83rd Street. (Across from Santa Fe College) If you are not familiar with it, the next time you are in the area, run by and check it out. The meeting room has access to the kitchen area, which will be nice. Earl and Veda Bergadine have been members of this church for many years. In my thank you letter to the Celebration UMC, I told them, we as a club will keep an eye on the rose garden even though we won’t be meeting there. Let’s schedule a date for some of us to check on it in a month or so. We do want it to flourish for all to enjoy.

I cannot encourage you enough to take advantage of the Fall District Convention in Atlanta, October 7-9, 2016 and the Mid-Winter Meeting January 20-22 in Birmingham, AL. The District is offering an Exhibitor’s School on June 18 at Goodwood in Tallahassee. Details are in the Bulletin, plan to attend if you are able. Give Mary Maud Sharpe a call if you have questions (850-878-9625). Just a few more days and we will enjoy our last meeting for the year, the Ice Cream Social and installation of officers. Thanks to Art and Cyd for having us at Rose Petals Nursery. Those of you who will make ice cream, thank you for sharing your creative skills in churning. Thanks to all who will bring the other goodies as well.

It has been a good year, a time of fun, a time for work, a time of sadness, a time of learning and sharing as well as. Thanks to each of you for sharing the journey and carrying on the special presence GRS holds in this community. I’m looking forward to seeing and sharing our last meeting for our fiscal year (July 1 thru June 30) on the 12th.

Please don’t miss it! Check out our latest newsletter here...
